Alongside Pennine Housing and Planit, the landscape Architects who displayed the current designs for each space, we set up a few gazebos with flags and a creative voting system involving coloured balls, to choose a name for each of the parks. We also set up our flock of sheep with relevant questions for local residents to answer and displayed the portraits from Manor Park Road estate and the ceramic tiles from the Signpost group.

So what's this all about...?

Exciting new things are happening in Manor Park and this site is here to let you know what's going on.

Pennine Housing are doing streetscene and green space improvements in the area and are working with Planit landscape Architects, who have been appointed to implement these new improvements.

The overall aims are:

• Provide a high quality public realm improvement scheme, which proves to be robust yet attractive.

• Strengthen the character of the neighbourhood.

• Improve the day to day well being of the residents by creating practical design led solutions to the public realm issues.

• Create a sense of ownership of the public realm leading to enhanced community safety and well being.

• Create positive perceptions of the area both from
within and outside.

• Enhance the hierarchy of the streets.

• Attract investment.

• Supportive of the Green Flag design objectives.

In addition, Ana Ospina and Cara Flynn from Fourth Wall Creations will be working as the Artists on this project with the aim to work with groups in the community to feed ideas into the design of the public realm.

This role is a vital in strengthening the sense of place for residents through the medium of art whether it be through contemporary art, workshops or installations providing something of quality, character and identity for the communities.
