Coat of Arms Workshop

Coat of Arms workshop with Park Academy School
Wednesday 12th October 2011

The green space that we wanted to focus on for this workshop was ‘Seaton Fields’.

We wanted to look at coats of arms from families that lived in the area during that period and the symbols that were used and create modern day coats of arms for Manor Park.

We worked with a year 11 class at the local Park Academy high school and Charlie Downes, a local print maker.

The students started by drawing sketches for their coats of arms. These were then transfered onto card and cut out to create the colligraph. These collegraphs were then printed onto black paper with gold ink using Charlie’s 100 year old printing press. This worked really well to give an impression of what these would look like once they had been cast in metal.
